Choosing what type of website to create can often be a dilemma when trying to get started with digital or affiliate marketing. Did you ever consider that you would have an option, or have you thought just how many distinct types of strategies there could be for developing your website?
It’s sometimes difficult to put different websites into specific categories as they vary so much, and there can be a lot of overlap. - Micro Niche Websites (Example: Fitness Reviews) are formed to concentrate on a selective part of a niche, usually relatively small websites but working after much less competition.

Authority Sites
- The clue’s in the contents; usually, enormous and well-established websites (Example: Make Money), have often been around for numerous years and have thousands of posts, pages, links, and high page authority and domain ratings. It usually demands a lot of time and effort to develop an authority site, so it is really a long-term project.

eCommerce / Shopping sites
- Often businesses or individuals selling actual products or services, sometimes their own or possibly dropshipping. There will also be many affiliate-based sites that tend to fall into this group as well, such as those that use large data feeds to develop out the site and, as a result, might not have much unique content, duplicate product descriptions, prices, etc.
There are lots of other groups that you could consider, but these are the basic ones, to begin with. Websites also tend to get labeled as content-based websites where you would assume to get unique, valuable articles and information, or product-based (eCommerce) stores that use data feeds and usually have very little unique content. Then there are several others such as downloads, comparisons, and services.
Static Sites or a Blog?
There is also the focus of whether to create so-called static websites such as those made using HTML coding, or should you utilize something such as WordPress to create a blog-based site? The differences between the two have mixed considerably over the past few years, and it’s really not so much of an issue now.
It does come down to individual choice and the long-term aims for your website. Still, many affiliate marketers only utilize WordPress now, and it’s quite extraordinary how many various types of websites now use this program, and just so you know, they don’t have to seem like a typical blog. Just remember that most visitors wouldn’t understand any difference between what you use anyway.
