An internet search stock operation is conducted with the maximum job priority, meaning it will disrupt all Restartable jobs that use the library.

Complete Scan

The complete scan option must be used along with an inventory to check the media occupancy in the library slots and upgrade the slot table in the CommServe database.

A complete scan operation is recommended in the following situations:

When you export or import media right through the library’s mail slot or when you open the library door and then manually add or remove press or rearrange the media from the slots.

It is therefore advised that you start a full scan when you import/export media into a library, particularly libraries with no mail slot.

When a Quick stock operation fails to detect new media.

The library status is shown as offline until the full scan operation finishes. This usually means that new data protection or data recovery operations that get the library cannot start until the operation completes. A data protection or data retrieval operation that is in progress once the complete scan operation begins can endure so long as it doesn’t have to access unmounted media.
