West Ham had officially announced on January 29th, 2020 that they were signing the 24-year midfielder Tomas Soucek on a six-month loan from Slavia Prague with an obligation to buy.
The West Ham squad was in dire need of few extra legs in midfield and Tomas Soucek taking his role created a big impact on the team. The hammers were longing for a midfielder after Pedro Obiang and Cheikhou Kouyate failed to prove themselves to fit into this role.

West Ham has signed the 25-year-old midfielder for 15 million pounds on top of an already prevailing 4 million pounds fee. With the initial deal on January 29th, 2020 Tomas joined the Premier League side, West Ham, until the end of the 2020 season and had an option to make the transfer permanent which has been confirmed on 24th July after Tomas signed the contract with a four-year deal.
