West Ham had officially announced on January 29th, 2020 that they were signing the 24-year midfielder Tomas Soucek on a six-month loan from Slavia Prague with an obligation to buy.
The West Ham squad was in dire need of few extra legs in midfield and Tomas Soucek taking his role created a big impact on the team. The hammers were longing for a midfielder after Pedro Obiang and Cheikhou Kouyate failed to prove themselves to fit into this role.
The 6 ft 4 footballer impressed the hammers with the high attacking and defensive work rate which was the major concern for the Premier League during this season. According to a source from sports news, it is reported that no other player has covered more ground than Tomas Soucek. He has covered 73.89 km which has been one of the reasons for the Hammers to go for him.

Some of the other statistics that pushed the West Ham to opt for the midfielder is that he has made 23 tackles, 29 clearances with 20 interceptions in 11 games. He is the one to have had the second-most shots inside the box on the target and the third most passes for the West ham since the season started.
West Ham has signed the 25-year-old midfielder for 15 million pounds on top of an already prevailing 4 million pounds fee.
