Liverpool lifts the Premier League trophy at Anfield

On Wednesday both the teams, Liverpool and Chelsea with their nerves on gearing up for the final face-off of Premier League Trophy. Liverpool’s team came out as winners in a 5-3 victory over Chelsea in the last game played at home ground. They received the trophy in a silent ceremony in an empty stadium. The club has restored their first English title after 30 years but if we see logically the title was sealed a month ago when there were seven games left sequencing a three-month gap created because of coronavirus pandemic.
The last manager, Kenny Dalglish who was instrumental in getting the trophy home presented the medallions with his face covered in red mask sporting the team color and handing over the trophy to Captain Jordan Henderson who filled with excitement and happiness displayed it high amongst fireworks and decorations. In a normal situation, this event and stadium would have been a phenomenal place and a treat for eyes to watch the night at Anfield Stadium.

Local police and law system had taken adequate steps to ensure no crowd gatherings happen to post the win. Merseyside police had imposed a 48-hour ban on fans gathering in large numbers. Even with so much restriction, some fans were still seen celebrating the moment by igniting fireworks and flares.
Klopp requested all fans to celebrate at home honoring the social distancing norm during the pandemic.
Despite such a quiet ceremony, the players did celebrate in an empty 53000 seat stadium by singing the club’s anthem with their manager Juergen Klopp and his staff.
Emphasizing staying at home the manager of the club said that this is all done for the fans and he expects everyone to be happy and celebrate at home. He also asked them to gear up for a party once this pandemic is over.
Liverpool chief executive Peter Moore said that there will be celebrations at the right time where players and fans together will celebrate the occasion.
Henderson in a statement given to former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher at pitchside told that it has been an amazing season and the journey is still on.
Agreed that the presentation ceremony missed the thrill and excitement of fans, but the happiness is created in the hearts of every fan was worth everything.
Liverpool had lost to Manchester City last year by a point despite losing only one game.
This English title was a dream for the red half of Merseyside and was awaited for three decades when teams like Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City were superseding the league. It is better late than never and Liverpool did it in style this time by lifting the trophy. With a determination of making it not the last time, we are sure that they will be repeating this win every year. They have come out as a challenging team and will be a tough competition for their rivals.
