Improve existing content with missing subtopics

If you own an e-commerce site, you must know about product descriptions. They help customers make informed buying decisions. You can use them to target keywords and also create backlinks.

But what if you do not write any product descriptions at all? In this case, you can simply add links to related products on other sites. For example, if you sell hats, you can link to similar hats sold by different companies.

Another thing that you can do is to include information about the price and shipping cost in the description. This will help buyers find more options and make their buying process easier.

Send emails to everyone you link to

Link Building is a chore. You have find prospects, vet them and find their email address. Then you need to convince them to link to your website. An easier way to start is to contact their founders or marketing managers.

For example, if we want to add internal links to new posts about Google keyword ranking tools, search for something like site:”website.com/” twitter unfollow tools“. Every result here is a webpage on our website containing the phrase ‘twitter unfollow tools. ‘If there are many relevant results, install Ahrefs’ SEO toolbar. 

This tool will overlay SEO metrics in search results. You can also eyeball the URL rating of each page to prioritize linking from the most authoritative pages.

Do an annual content audit

Content audits can be tedious. But when done regularly, they help you spot problems early. If you notice a lot of duplicate content, then you need to fix it. Or, if you see a lot of low quality content, you may want to hire someone to take over the writing.

Audits allow you to check the technical aspects such as URLs, titles, meta tags, images, and so on. Auditing also allows you to check whether or not the content is optimized for search engines.

HARO stands for Help a Reporter Out. While most journalists prefer to receive original content, there will always be times when they request information from other sources.

For example, if a journalist asks you to provide background information on a certain topic, it makes sense to respond quickly. You can then link back to your site’s page about that subject.

Of course, responding to reporters takes time. But the benefits outweigh any lost opportunity costs.

Monitor competing backlinks for underperforming content

If you want to improve your search engine ranking, you need to understand which pages perform best.

To find out, you can use Google Analytics or another web analytics tool. These services will show you where people are clicking. They also tell you what pages visitors are looking at before they click away.

This means that you can identify which links lead to low-traffic pages. Then, you can focus on improving the content of those pages. This will help you generate more traffic and increase sales.
