How to Deep Clean Your Car Interior in Less Than an Hour

You would think that deep cleaning your car’s interior on a regular basis would be one of the first things you’d learn as an adult, but it doesn’t always happen that way. Your car accumulates dirt and stains from everyday use, so occasionally giving your vehicle a thorough cleaning helps keep it looking newer and smelling fresher longer. If you’ve got more than 60 minutes to spare, check out this step-by-step guide on how to deep clean your car interior in less than an hour.
Remove All Trash
Take a bucket and fill it with water. Place the bucket on your passenger seat and open the car door. Pour half of the bucket water over the interior of your car, starting at the dashboard. Wipe off any moisture with a towel or paper towel. Take a disinfectant wipe, wet it with some water from your bottle, and wipe down all leather or plastic surfaces. Be sure not to use too much water or you’ll end up soaking your seats again! Take another disinfectant wipe, wet it with some more water from your bottle, and clean out all of the cracks in between buttons and handles on doors, armrests, gear shifts, etc.
Vacuum the Seats and Floor
Start by vacuuming the seats and floor. Use your vacuum’s upholstery attachment for this task. Grab a bucket, fill it with hot water and a few squirts of Steamgrønt Indvendig rengøring af bil shampoo, or whichever cleaning agent you prefer. Wipe down the exterior of your car with a clean rag. To take care of the dashboard and center console, use a clean rag dipped in a mixture of hot water and dish soap. Wet down all surfaces before wiping them dry with another clean towel. Remove the mats from your car’s interior and give them a quick shake outside then wash them with the same mixture you used on the dashboard and center console areas.
Scrub the Upholstery
Steamgrønt is a product that can be used on the upholstery of your car. It has a pleasant smell and leaves a protective layer that repels liquids, which makes it perfect for deep cleaning. Steamgrønt can also be used on carpets, mattresses, and other places inside the home. To deep clean your car’s upholstery:
- Remove any food or liquid from the upholstery and seat coverings first. This is important because once you start scrubbing, you will want to make sure that anything you remove doesn’t go back onto the seats.
Wipe Down Hard Surfaces
Make sure you have a bucket with soapy water and a few clean cloths. Start by wiping down all hard surfaces such as the doors, steering wheel, dashboard, and seats with the soapy cloth. Next, grab your wet/dry vacuum and vacuum up any loose dirt or hair that’s on the carpet. You’ll want to make sure you do a thorough job here since this is where most of the pet hair will be hiding! Lastly, use another cloth dampened with soapy water and wipe down all of your hard surfaces again.
Remove Stains
The most common stains found inside your car are coffee, wine, soda and grape juice. To remove these stains, first blot the area with a dry rag or paper towel until all of the liquid is absorbed. For large spills that won’t come out easily, take a small amount of dishwashing detergent and water and dip a rag in it before applying the solution to the stain. Next, wipe up the soapy water and let it sit for 10 minutes before wiping off any remaining residue with a wet cloth.
