The current season of the English Premier League is going to be completed on 26th July 2020. The Premier League shareholders agreed to start the campaign and it is announced that the new season, which was scheduled to start on 8th August 2020, will start from 12th September 2020 giving about seven weeks for preparing for the next campaign to the teams.
The delay in the start of the new season is because of the delay in the 2019-20 season for three months due to the pandemic situation. It is announced on Friday that the league will start on 12th September 2020 and the final round of matches will be on 23rd May 2021.
The league planning to consult with the Football Association (FA) and the English Football League (EFL) for scheduling the domestic competitions. It was announced by the EFL that the second-tier Championship, third-tier League One, and fourth-tier League Two seasons will also start from the weekend of 12th September 2020 and finish off on 8th- 9th May 2021. It also means that the season will begin behind closed doors to maintain the social-distancing. All the discussions are going on for the team to continue making five substitutes per game.
